Im Rahmen einer Sprachreise verbringen die Schüler der vierten Jahrgänge im Mai eine Woche auf der Mittelmeerinsel Malta, welche aus mehrerlei Hinsicht ein ideales Ziel für eine Sprachreise darstellt.
Englisch ist neben Maltesisch nach wie vor die zweite offizielle Amtssprache in der ehemaligen englischen Kolonie. Aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage wurde Malta über die Jahrhunderte von verschiedenen Kulturen beeinflusst und erstrahlt auch heute noch in einer multi-kulturellen Vielfalt. So spannt sich der Bogen an Attraktionen in Malta von Zeitgenössischem bis zurück zu prähistorischen Megalithbauten. Ein weiterer Bonus von Malta ist das mediterrane Klima, das uns bereits im Mai badetaugliche Temperaturen bietet und die Schüler den einen oder anderen Nachmittag im Meer verbringen lässt.
Die Schüler sind bei Gastfamilien untergebracht. Dadurch kommen sie in Kontakt mit der Bevölkerung, verbessern ihr Englisch und nehmen am Alltag der Familie teil. Frühstück und Abendessen werden bei der Familie eingenommen. Am Vormittag stehen dann Unterrichtseinheiten in der Sprachschule auf dem Programm. Diese ist in einer ehemaligen britischen Kaserne untergebracht und bietet neben den Unterrichtsräumen auch ein kleines Restaurant, einen Beachvolleyballplatz und einen eigenen Pool. Das Nachmittagsprogramm besteht aus einer Mischung aus Kultur und Sport und auch für die eine oder andere Einkaufstour bleibt Zeit.
Alles in allem bietet Malta das ideale Umfeld um Englisch „live“ zu erleben und zu verbessern und die positiven Rückmeldungen der letzten Jahre haben uns gezeigt, dass wir mit der Wahl unserer Sprachreise richtig liegen.

Our Malta Language Week

A language week surely sounds a bit boring for most students or not really different to a normal week at school. But the Maltaweek showed otherwise.

The mix of four funny English lessons in the morning and holidays, including relaxing at the pool, swimming in the sea, going out at night and the warm weather plus interesting tours around the whole island seemed to be the perfect way to practise one’s English. And for sure – it was!

But one of the things I liked best was the power-boat trip to the beautiful island of Comino and the stop at blue Lagoon. The water there had the colour of a swimming pool and to jump from the rocks into this clear water was really cool.

I also enjoyed the stay at our host family. They were very friendly and had this typical Italian temperament, talking English with their hands and feet all day long. We stayed there with five other people from all over the world. It was interesting to talk to them at dinner, or only listen to what they had to say.

If you visit Malta, it is a must to visit Paceville! It is unbelievable how many pubs, clubs, restaurants there are next to each other. We also enjoyed the, compared to Austria, cheap food and drinks. Our teacher told us, that for two Euros, you can easily buy food for a whole day.

So, all in all, I liked our trip to Malta a lot and I would recommend this journey to everyone ;-)
